This class is designed for people that want to get a taste of what it means to grow and produce food from scratch, and everything we have to offer. Michael Van de Elzen will be hosting an interactive demo sharing his techniques and showing tips and tricks that can be used in the kitchen, using some of the freshest ingredients possible from our Kitchen gardens. Our Head Gardener Adrianne will take you on an immersive garden tour to show you the Good From Scratch practices we use to grow a sustainable garden year-round. It is a great class for corporate or larger groups or for people who don’t have a lot of time. Classes can be tailored to specific needs, interests or challenges for Bigger Groups.
We encourage you to arrive by (arrival anytime from 9.15 am) 9:30 am where you will be offered tea or coffee before being seated for Mike’s cooking workshop. Mike will be demonstrating cooking techniques relevant to the produce in season and gathered from the gardens.
Following the workshop with Mike we will head outdoors and up to the gardens. Adrianne our Head Gardener will introduce you to the Good From Scratch gardens where we harvest produce most days for our cooking classes. You will learn the practices we use to grow a sustainable garden while offering skills, techniques and practices you can in turn use in your very own garden at home. We encourage you to ask questions throughout the morning leaving with a sense of learning and enjoyment from the morning’s experience.
After the garden tour, we will head back to the cooking school, where Mike will have a light lunch prepared. Guests will also be able to purchase a glass of locally produced wine, a handcrafted beer, or a Homemade Soda. Then be seated as a group to enjoy the food and the stunning views over Muriwai Valley. Lunch will finish approximately around 12:45pm to allow you to relax and look through the market shelves filled with local artisan produce.
